Transfer Stocks Out Of Your Robinhood Account

Before You Begin

  • We support partial and full outbound transfers.
  • Once you transfer assets out of Robinhood, we’ll close your account.

Outbound ACATS Transfers

You can transfer your stocks out of your Robinhood account into another brokerage. To begin the process, you'll need to contact your other brokerage and have them initiate the transfer. They’ll submit the transfer instructions to our clearing partner to transfer over your assets and funds.

Note: If you transfer all of your assets to another brokerage, we’ll close your account.

Please make sure you initiate an ACATS (Automated Customer Account Transfer Service) transfer. Please don’t request stock delivery using any method other than ACATS, including DTC and transfer agent transfers.

Where to Find Your Account Number

You can usually find your account number on your old brokerage account statement. If you have trouble finding your number, please contact your old brokerage for assistance.

You can find your Robinhood account number in your mobile app:

  1. Tap the Account icon in the bottom right corner.
  2. Tap Account Summary.
  3. Your account number will be at the top of your screen.

Fees for Transferring Stock

If you’re transferring stocks or cash from Robinhood to an outside brokerage, there is a $75 fee.

Stocks Restricted During Transfer

If you request a full ACAT, we'll restrict your account while your stocks are being transferred out of Robinhood and prevent you from trading them until the transfer is complete. You still own the stocks during this process, and they’ll update to reflect the current market value.

Leveraged Accounts

We recommend reaching out to your other brokerage if you plan on transferring your Robinhood account while borrowing funds. Some brokerages may accept leveraged accounts.

Canceling an Outgoing Stock Transfer

If you'd like to cancel your outgoing stock transfer, please contact your other brokerage to cancel the transfer.

DTC Numbers

You may need to reference a DTC number for your transfer. If you’re a Clearing by Robinhood customer, you’ll use Robinhood’s DTC number: 6769.

If your account is held by Apex, our clearing partner, you’ll use their DTC number: 0158.

You can see which entity your account is cleared through–Robinhood or Apex–by checking your most recent account statement.
