Upgrading to Robinhood Gold

How do I upgrade to Robinhood Gold?

It's easy to upgrade to Gold! Simply tap “Robinhood Gold” in your account menu to upgrade. After upgrading, you can immediately use your Gold Buying Power, trade in the pre- and after-hours, and use bigger instant deposits.

It says I need to update my investment profile, what do I do?

It’s our regulatory responsibility to ensure Robinhood Gold is in line with your investment goals. If your investment profile is out-of-date, you should update it during the Robinhood Gold upgrade process or any time on the settings screen.

It says I need to have a minimum balance, what do I do?

Regulations require all brokerages, including Robinhood, to have a minimum portfolio value of $2,000 to open a margin account (such as Robinhood Gold). If you are prompted to deposit funds, you can upgrade immediately after initiating a transfer.

It says I won’t get my full buying power, why?

On rare occasions, your portfolio will limit your Gold Buying Power. US federal laws require all brokerages to have common-sense safeguards to prevent margin customers from losing too much money on high-risk investments. You can access all of your Gold Buying Power by investing in low volatility stocks. You can check the volatility of a given stock on its detail page.

When can I downgrade?

You can downgrade to a Robinhood or cash account at any time, as long as you aren’t using any Gold Buying Power. To downgrade, navigate to Settings → Gold → Change Tier → Downgrade Account.

How much does it cost?

Robinhood Gold’s price depends on the tier you select. Tiers with more Gold Buying Power and larger instant deposits cost more than tiers with less Gold Buying Power and less instant deposits. No matter what tier you’re on, you’ll pay a flat price just once a month.

*Additional buying power over $50,000.00 has a yearly interest rate of 5.0%.
