How do I get access to options trading?
All users will have access to Options in early 2018. You can sign up for early access here.
When we’ve released Options to you, we’ll send you an email and a card in your app. Both of these will take you through the process of applying for Options.
Is trading options on Robinhood really free?
Yes! There’s no commission fee to buy or sell options, nor is there a monthly fee. You also don’t need to have a Gold subscription to get started.
Why am I prompted to “update” my investment profile?
We’re legally required to make sure your investment profile is up to date before you get access to options trading. No changes to your profile are necessary, just confirm it’s up to date.
Why does it say I don’t have enough investment experience?
You need to have some stock trading experience before you can trade options. You can try again after you’ve made some trades, and update your investment profile to make sure it’s accurate and up to date.
Why does it say I “don’t have the right risk tolerance”?
Trading options typically involves more risk than trading stocks, so it requires a higher risk tolerance. If you believe that you are prepared to accept this riskier trading strategy, update your investment profile and begin the Options onboarding process again.
Why is my application under review?
We’re required to manually review your application, and this process usually takes 24 hours. We’ll email you and send you a push notification when you’re ready to go!
Please Note: Options transactions may involve a high degree of risk. To learn more about the risks associated with options trading, please review the options disclosure disclosure document entitled the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options available through Robinhood Financial LLC or The Options Clearing Corporation.
